Cosmetic Surgery Forum Kicks Off in Las Vegas

December 6, 2013

The fifth annual Cosmetic Surgery Forum got underway yesterday in Las Vegas, Nevada, highlighted by varied educational sessions and discussion among faculty, attendees, and residents. Among the offerings from the first day were 75 resident presentations, practice management pearls, live injections, as well as an Allergan-sponsored session, in which Vivian Bucay, MD offered insights into the science and utility of the newly approved Juvéderm Voluma.

According to course director Joel Schlessinger, MD, the diverse milieu of topics and viewpoints is part of what makes Cosmetic Surgery Forum a unique event for core aesthetic physicians. “Having the opportunity to explore topics ranging from how cosmetic surgery affects our sexual impressions of individuals to a portable microtome that could revolutionize dermatology in third world countries, is about as rewarding as anything I have done,” Dr. Schlessinger noted.

“We heard from 75 incredible residents today and enjoyed the opportunity to hear Drs. Dore Gilbert, Michael Gold, and Doris Day discuss the incredible results that Syneron and their products provide. Merz sponsored a two-person play by Dr. Steve Dayan and Valerie Monroe, the beauty editor for O Magazine. Additionally, Neocutis sponsored another exchange on the first night which set the tone for a weekend of fun and collegiality, all the while learning and exploring new topics in cosmetic surgery,” said Dr. Schlessinger. “Who says education has to be boring?”
