Two American Society for Dermatologic Surgery members received grants totaling more than $84,000 from the Fredric S. Brandt, MD, Innovations in Aesthetics Fellowship Fund at the 2017 ASDS Annual Meeting in Chicago.

Sandeep S. Saluja, MD, and Mona Sadeghpour, MD, MHS, each received a clinical research grant through the program, which was set up in 2015 for Fellows enrolled in an ASDS-accredited Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship Training Program.

Dr. Saluja’s research project is entitled “Comparison of Fractional Erbium-Doped 1550-nm laser and Bipolar Fractional Radiofrequency Microneedle Device for the Treatment of Atrophic Acne Scars in Ethnic Skin: A Randomized Split-Face Controlled Trial.”

Dr. Sadeghpour’s research project focuses on “Low-fluence QS Nd:YAG Lasers in the Treatment of Melasma: A Prospective, Split-face, Randomized Controlled Study.”

The Fund continues the legacy of Dr. Brandt – a longtime ASDS member and contributor widely considered as one of the most innovative cosmetic dermatologists – by promoting and supporting the career development of junior cosmetic dermatologic surgeons focused on cosmetic treatments and patient care.

“This is the third year we’ve granted funds to two of our early-career members to help support cosmetic-focused research in dermatology,” said ASDS President Lisa Donofrio, MD. “Dr. Brandt was passionate about training the next generation of leaders in the field, and this fund carries on the reinforcement of those attributes.”
