Every October the National Eczema Association (NEA) renews its education campaign -- Eczema Awareness Month -- to raise awareness on the 30 million Americans currently suffering from this skin condition. Eczema is a painful inflammation of the skin that causes dryness, itching, redness and a host of other symptoms. The agony of chronic flare-ups not only impact the health, lifestyle, well-being and self-esteem of the patient, but also the lives of the entire family. Aidan Moffett, an inspiring 11-year-old boy from McKinney, Texas, knows this all too well. Aidan has been coping with Atopic Dermatitis, a severe form of Eczema, almost since birth. With his skin often left raw, vulnerable and patched with blood, Aidan was unable to attend school, let alone play with his friends. In resistant cases like Aidan's, the search for managing symptoms can lead to a wide regimen of therapies, including topical steroid and immunosuppressant's. The trial and error of therapies ultimately left Aidan frail with little to no relief. Until Aidan met Avène.
