DocBookMD App Offers Secure Communication, HIPAA Compliance

04/24/2012

Doctors can now send X-rays and lab results back and forth, securely and with full HIPAA compliance via a new application, available for iPhone, iPad, and Android. The DocBookMD app is free for doctors who are members of their state or county medical society. All activity is run through a secure server, with multiple encryption levels, and the data is stored on the server, not the physician's mobile device. Co-creator Dr. Tim Gueramy explains that JCAHO reports that the number-one contributor to a sentinel event or complication in a hospital is the lack of effective communication between medical staff. “The most important benefit of the app is for the patients,” explains Dr. Tracey Haas, co-creator. “We support doctors so they can better serve their patients.”
