Promiseb Complete, a new regimen for patients with seborrheic dermatitis (SD), is now available from Promius Pharma, LLC, an affiliate of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories,. The line features Promiseb Topical Cream, a non-steroidal, prescription cream for the treatment of SD, and a companion product called Promiseb Plus Scalp Wash, designed for the scalp and body. It is estimated that of the one to three percent of the general population who have SD, up to 95 percent have scalp involvement. Promiseb Cream has been clinically shown to treat SD with comparable efficacy and fewer relapses than a low-potency topical corticosteroid in a randomized clinical study. It has demonstrated both anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties. Promiseb Plus Scalp Wash, which will only be available as part of Promiseb Complete, is formulated to cleanse the scalp and remove flaky build-up. Twenty-five patients with mild to severe flaky build-up on the scalp participated in a two-week open study of Promiseb Plus Scalp Wash, using the product approximately twice a week. Some patients left the lather on the scalp for some minutes prior to rinsing. Scalp dermoscopy revealed a decrease in the quantity of flakes. Effect on hair cosmetics was rated positive by all patients. Scent and quantity of the lather were rated as optimal, and all patients in the pre-marketing trial said they would buy the product if it were on the market.
