New School Initiative for Skin Cancer Prevention

05/15/2012

La Roche-Posay recently collaborated with the Women's Dermatologic Society to launch “Time Out, Protect Your Skin” (TOPS) in schools to educate children and families about skin cancer prevention. New York City's Grace Church School was the first school to receive a sun-safe makeover, integrating sun safety education into the school's curriculum. Dermatologists educated teachers, children, and parents about the dangers of UV rays and the importance of limiting sun exposure at school and on the playground. In addition, dermatologists performed skin checks, and sunscreen samples and UV bracelets were distributed. TOPS schools will receive shade-bearing awnings, protective sun hats, sunscreen, and educational materials.
