Study: HA Fillers Effective for Full-face Rejuvenation

08/24/2012

In subjects with multiple indications, full-face rejuvenation using hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers” provided effective, safe, and satisfactory results,” one of the first studies of its kind concludes. (Dermatol Surg;38(7 Pt 2):1153-61) The six-month study involved 77 subjects treated with five different HA fillers for up to eight indications: periorbital lines, tear troughs, cheeks, cheek folds, nasolabial folds, upper lip lines, lips, and marionette lines). Outcomes included global aesthetic improvement, improvement in each indication, adverse events, local tolerability, and satisfaction. The mean age of subjects was 54.5. Nearly half of subjects (48.1%) had five or more indications treated. Mean total injection volume per participant was 6.7 mL. At month 6, 92.1% of participants remained at least improved over baseline. Satisfaction was high, with 79.7% of participants satisfied or very satisfied with the durability of the results at six months. The only reported adverse events were injection site reactions.
