Actress Cynthia Nixon Helps Americans to Come Face to Face with Rosacea

October 14, 2012

Some of the 16 million Americans affected by rosacea are not seeking therapy, but a new initiative encourages them to come "Face to Face" with the disease. Supported by Galderma in association with the National Rosacea Society National Rosacea Society, the "Face to Face with Rosacea Symposium" brought Emmy and Tony Award winning Actress Cynthia Nixon and a panel of medical experts together at the Fall Clinical Dermatology Conference to launch a new professional and public awareness campaign. The campaign seeks to raise awareness of the disease by highlighting Ms. Nixon's experience while also bringing attention to the physical and emotional impact of the disease. Hillary Baldwin, MD, Julie Harper, MD and David Sarwer, PhD were medical panelists. According to the mission statement, "The campaign will empower professionals and their patients by encouraging discussion about the impact of rosacea and availability of effective disease management." More details on the campaign will appear in an upcoming issue of Practical Dermatology.
