CryoShape Uses Cold to Reduce Scars

12/03/2012

CryoShape is a patented handheld device for treating keloid and hypertrophic scars. Physicians can destroy deep tissue using an extremely cold probe that is injected directly into the scar. Treating scars with cold freezes them from the inside, blocking blood circulation to the unwanted tissue, which reduces deep scar material. The procedure also softens and normalizes collagen within and surrounding the scar. According to the company, only one brief session (10 minutes to an hour) is needed for results. There also is little recovery time and only local anesthetic is required. In 97 percent of the cases, scars did not return.
