Naftifine Gel Found Effective for Moccasin-Type Tinea Pedis

03/07/2013

New data has found that the topical antifungal agent naftifine hydrochloride gel 2% (Merz North America) is both efficacious and tolerable in the treatment for interdigital-type and moccasin-type Tinea pedis. In a poster presented at the AAD Annual Meeting in Miami, the authored sounds that naftifine hydrochloridegel 2% applied twice daily for two weeks was an effective monotherapy when compared to the vehicle at the end of treatment and at two and four weeks post-treatment. Though these are positive signs, the authors conclude that more data will be required to determine the viability of topical antifungal therapy for moccasin-type tinea pedis.
