A new product for itching associated with eczema is now available from Onset Dermatologics. Aurstat® Anti-Itch Hydrogel is engineered to soothe itching, burning, and pain of atopic dermatitis and various dermatoses, according to the company. The patented hydrogel formulation is alcohol free, fragrance free, non-irritating, non-sensitizing, and non-cytotoxic. Aurstat® contains HOCl (hypochlorous acid), which, according to Brian Berman, MD, is a key component in bleach baths. “Though the mechanism of action is unknown, dermatologists have observed that bleach baths reduce the severity of atopic dermatitis symptoms, including itch,” said Dr. Berman. Aurstat® is safe to use on the face and around the eyes and has no age restrictions.
