Anti-bacterial Soap Under FDA Review

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is studying whether triclosan is safe and effective. The FDA's findings could have implications for a $1 billion industry that includes hundreds of anti-bacterial soaps and body washes, particularly in acne washes. The review comes amid recent studies that have led scientists to worry that triclosan could increase the risk of infertility, early puberty, and other hormone-related problems in humans. The FDA plans to deliver its findings this year.
