Avène SPF Awarded Skin Cancer Foundation Seal Of Recommendation

June 11, 2013

The Skin Cancer Foundation approved Avène High Protection Tinted Compact SPF 50 in both shades (Beige and Honey) to carry The Skin Cancer Foundation Active Seal of Recommendation. The coveted Seal signifies that these products have been reviewed by and meet the specific criteria of an independent Photobiology Committee. The product was proven to provide non-irritating, 100% mineral, broad-spectrum sun protection, and the Seal shows that The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends this product as an effective broad-spectrum sunscreen. The Committee found that the product meets criteria to provide UVB protection with SPF of 30 or higher (validation of the SPF number is done by testing on 10 human subjects); provide UVA protection (critical wavelength of 370); show acceptable results for both phototoxic reactions and contact irritancy testing on 20 subjects; and demonstrate proof of water resistance. Acquiring the Seal is not the equivalent of a product endorsement by The Skin Cancer Foundation.
