"Parasols of Protection" Highlights UV Safety

06/24/2013

Kicking off the summer with an educational sun protection campaign, the Women's Dermatologic Society (WDS), Duane Reade, and La Roche-Posay's Parasols of Protection event raised awareness about skin cancer through an art installation of colorful umbrellas suspended in the air to form a walkway through New York's Madison Square Park. Sun safety materials, including Anthelios samples, and educational pamphlets were also distributed. Duane Reade locations will host dermatologists offering free skin exams in mid-July. The Parasols of Protection event was part of the ongoing SOS – Save Our Skin campaign of educational initiatives and free skin cancer screenings. Suspicious lesions have been found in almost 30% of the screenings. Sun safety materials, including Anthelios samples, and educational pamphlets were also distributed, further bolstering La Roche-Posay's commitment to fostering regular sunscreen application by offering Anthelios samples on-site. Beauty advisers from Duane Reade were at the event, encouraging skin checks and promoting sun safety education.  La Roche-Posay Anthelios products were also available for purchase, with a portion of proceeds being donated to skin cancer research.
