Differin Gel Found Effective in Adult Women with Acne

08/07/2013

At the recent AAD Summer Meeting in New York, Galderma Laboratories presented results showing that Differin® (adapalene) Gel, 0.3% is efficacious in reducing acne lesions in adult women, and has been proven superior in reducing inflammatory lesions in women compared with vehicle gel. Investigators used data from a Phase 2 and 3 study of 117 adult women who were prescribed 12 weeks of Differin Gel 0.3% or vehicle applied once daily at night. Findings revealed that inflammatory acne lesions were reduced by 61.2 percent in patients taking Differin, compared with 45.8 percent in those on the vehicle gel. In addition, Differin significantly reduced total lesion counts compared with vehicle (49.5 percent change from baseline). In the Differin group, the most common treatment-related adverse events were skin discomfort and dry skin, however there were no reported serious adverse events in either group.
