Cosmetic Surgery Forum Announces Innovators in Dermatology Recipients

November 7, 2013

The upcoming Cosmetic Surgery Forum (www.cosmeticsurgeryforum.com), taking place at the ARIA Resort and Casino in Las Vegas from December 5-7, recently announced the recipients of its “Innovators in Dermatology” presentation. Among those honored this year will be Jim Hartman, Vice President of US Aesthetics of Merz North America, Robert Grant, Chief Executive Officer of Alphaeon, Bob Rhatigan, Senior Vice President, Facial Aesthetics, for Allergan, and Ryan Weldon, Executive Vice President and Group Chairman of Valeant Pharmaceuticals.

"Robert Grant is starting a new concept in cosmetic medicine and fashioning it around a company," says Cosmetic Surgery Forum Course Director Joel Schlessinger, MD. "This is bold and hasn't ever been done before. Robert has the personal strength and fortitude to have gone where all companies considered going, but were unable or unwilling to do so. With this, he is now solidly in the fold of cosmetic companies and is poised to start selling to customers with a neurotoxin, filler and Facebook-like medical system (ShoutMD) as well as many other opportunities. Call him the 'Lion King' as he has taken over the mantle after being groomed for this position over the years."

"Bob Rhatigan has worked in the industry for over 14 years and successfully led the rollouts of Botox, Latisse and Juvederm, all of which have been immensely successful," notes Dr. Schlessinger. "He is now in the cosmeceutical space with the purchase of SkinMedica. Since his switch to this company, Lytera, a non-hydroquinone skin lightener, has been introduced and is one of the biggest sellers in the company and space. Call him the 'golden touch.'"

"Jim Hartman has worked in several companies in the space and has successfully engineered sales or IPOs of these companies that resulted in significant growth in value for them," Dr. Schlessinger observes. "He now is at Merz and has been involved in yet another coup, the purchase of NeoCutis. He could be called the 'deal-maker extraordinaire.'"

"Mike Pearson is the CEO of the largest dermatology company in the US and has been instrumental in acquiring and/or purchasing many smaller companies to create a powerhouse, Valeant," Dr. Schlessinger says. "Since he joined the company in 2008, he has created an incredible amount of wealth and value in the process and defined a new model for pharma. Mike could be called the 'Juggernaut.'"
