Practical Dermatology® Magazine Names Neal Bhatia, MD, FAAD Co-Chief Medical Editor

Neal Bhatia, MD, FAAD, San Diego-based dermatologist and well known lecturer and author, has been named Co-Chief Medical Editor of Practical Dermatology® magazine from Bryn Mawr Communications III, LLC. Now in it's 11th year of publication, Practical Dermatology® magazine continues to deliver dependable, expert advice on medical, cosmetic, and practice management issues to more than 11,000 dermatologists and 1,600 dermatology physician assistants in the US.
Dr. Bhatia, a long-serving member of Practical Dermatology® magazine's editorial advisory board, will serve alongside Co-Chief Medical Editor Joseph Bikowski, MD, FAAD, and Cosmetic Surgery Editor Joel Schlessinger, MD, FAAD. Dr. Bhatia completed his undergraduate and medical training at the University of Wisconsin and completed his post-graduate studies at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He sits on the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Dermatology.
With expertise in medical and cosmetic dermatology, as well as experience founding a medical practice, Dr. Bhatia is well suited to advise and help direct the editorial staff of Practical Dermatology® magazine, noted Group Publisher Alexandra Kinnie. “We have been lucky to work with Dr. Bhatia on various projects over the years and are pleased that he has agreed to lend his knowledge and insight to Practical Dermatology® and its related brands, DermTube.com and DermWire.com.”
In his inaugural editorial message, Dr. Bhatia confronts the current state of medical practice and challenges his dermatology colleagues to leave a valuable legacy for future dermatologists. He writes,
To follow [Joseph Bikowski's] lead, I implore my colleagues to become “teachers” and not just “healers.” …Let's publish our thoughts, our observations, and our ideas so that dermatologists down the street and across the country can learn. Let's make Practical Dermatology® our forum for professional growth, for sharing what makes us special, and most importantly, to make us proud of ourselves. I am looking forward to seeing how we do, so that the pages of history will remember us not with sadness but with pride that we made our specialty great.
