DNA to Host Annual Meeting in Orlando, May 1-4

04/14/2014

The Dermatology Nurses' Association (DNA) will host its 32nd Annual Convention at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin in Orlando, Fla., May 1-4. The convention offers educational tracks in Pediatric Dermatology, Cosmetic Dermatology, Wound Management, Professional Practice, Medical Dermatology, Dermatology Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology.  “We are thrilled about this year's program,” said DNA President Linda Markham, “Each session will be an opportunity for attendees to learn and grow, while allowing them time to network with leaders and colleagues in their fields.”  The keynote address will be given by Donna Hartley, whose presentation Fire Up Your Life, focuses on overcoming adversity. Hartley has experienced three life-threatening events, all of which have transpired on March 1. In 1978 she survived a plane crash, in 2002 she was diagnosed with Stage III melanoma and in 2006 she survived open heart surgery. Since her experience with melanoma, she has been an outspoken advocate for skin cancer awareness and lends a strong voice to a crucial issue. Fire Up Your Life is sure to inspire this year's attendees to follow the convention's theme of “Transforming and Evolving.” The first two days of the convention will feature a Nurse Practitioner Forum which targets advance practice Nurse Practitioners with an interest in dermatology. This year's topics include periocular lesions, bullous disease, pediatric cases, therapeutic updates and an array of other subjects requested by Nurse Practitioners, to best meet their diverse needs. Nurse Practitioners will also be able to attend the Dermoscopy Workshop led by Dr. Ashfaq A. Marghoob in two parts on May 3-4.  Following the Nurse Practitioner Forum there will be opportunities for convention attendees to receive continuing education and pharmacology credits through the convention's various educational tracks and presentations.   For further information on the convention, please visit http://2014.dnanurse.org.
