The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Accreditation Program Applications Due June 15

04/28/2014

Dermatology programs and practices trying to start a fellowship program have until June 15 to apply for accreditation cosmetic program. The program focuses on six topics: patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning, interpersonal skills, professionalism, and system-based practice.

ASDS President Mitchel P.Goldman, MD, said, “Residents are required to perform skin cancer surgery and repairs of surgical defects, but receive limited exposure to fillers, neuromodulators and lasers, to name just a few gaps. This is happening at the same time as there is more patient demand than ever for cosmetic procedures. Our accreditation program fills that void and – with its rigorous curriculum and challenging standards – also ensures that future dermatologists are well-trained in cosmetic procedures.”
