Andrew Weinstein Voted AAD President-Elect

Andrew H. Weinstein, MD, MPH, FAAD, was voted president-elect of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the organization announced.
Dr. Weinstein will be joined by vice president-elect Thomas E. Rohrer, MD, FAAD. Newly elected members of the board of directors are Alina G. Bridges, DO, FAAD; Sandra M. Johnson, MD, FAAD; Maral K. Skelsey, MD, FAAD; John Christopher Trinidad, MD, MPH, FAAD. Additionally, Mark D. Kaufmann, MD, FAAD, was elected nominating committee member representative.
Dr. Weinstein said on his campaign website that his immediate sole priority upon being elected would be stabilizing Medicare payment.
“The AAD is at a crossroads at which the value proposition of our Academy hangs in the balance,” Dr. Weinstein said on his website. “This year marks the fifth in a row where we’ve suffered actual decreases in the dollar amount of reimbursement. When considering inflation, we have been burdened with 25 years of cuts. The mission of the AAD is to ‘Advance Excellence in Dermatology.’ We can’t do that from shuttered offices.”
Dr. Kaufmann’s 2-year term begins immediately, and Dr. Weinstein and the others will officially take office at the conclusion of the 2026 AAD Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado, on March 31, 2026.
