Jamie Altman, MD, owner and president of Aesthetic Dermatology Associates, PC, in Media and Paoli, PA, launched AcneCareMD.com, a secure telemedicine website to provide acne care to patients across Pennsylvania via a web-based platform. The site allows patients seeking acne treatment to do so from the comfort of their homes, ensuring both direct access to physicians when needed and better compliance with treatment plans.

According to a statement, the secure site allows a patient to transmit his or her medical history, photos, and description of his or her acne to board-certified dermatologists, who in turn provide a specific treatment plan for each patient to follow. Patients receive the same care via computer that they would receive in an in-office setting, at a cost of $47 per “visit.” Prescription coverage for the patient is the same whether a prescription is received in the office or via the web, per their insurance plan.
