American Telemedicine Association Names New Vice Chair of Teledermatology
Mark P. Seraly, MD, founder and chief medical officer of Iagnosis, a developer of telemedicine solutions and the creator of DermatologistOnCall, has been elected Vice Chair of the Teledermatology Special Interest Group of the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) the leading international resource and advocate promoting the use of advanced remote medical technologies.
“I am very honored by the American Telemedicine Association to be elected by the members as vice chair in their special interest group for teledermatology. I’m excited to contribute the insights drawn from my several years of real-world experience in not just practicing telehealth myself, but also in building a business model and championing provider adoption to enable a successful offering to patients,” said Dr. Seraly.
Dr. Seraly started Iagnosis, Inc. and the DermatologistOnCall platform in 2012 to provide better dermatology healthcare access to patients by utilizing modern, Internet-enabled and mobile technologies. As the company’s chief medical officer, he provides both practical and strategic guidance to ensure the solution meets both patient and provider needs to deliver high-quality yet efficient telehealth service.
Telemedicine represents the most rapidly growing sector in the healthcare industry, with industry analyst firm IHS forecasting global telehealth market growth of more than a factor of 10 from 2013 to 2018.
Dr. Seraly will start his two-year term for the ATA Teledermatology SIG appointment starting in May 2016. He has been involved as a member of the ATA for six years.
Dr. Seraly is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology who treats more than 9,000 patients annually at his physical practice in McMurray, Washington County and over 1,000 virtually through DermatologistOnCall. He is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He is the author of more than 30 papers on dermatology and has lectured nationally and internationally. Dr. Seraly is also a member of the American Academy of Dermatology Telemedicine Task Force and a sustaining member of the Dermatology Foundation’s Annenberg Circle.
