AQUA Dermatology, backed by private-equity firms Gryphon Investors and GTCR, announced it now has 110 locations in the southeastern United States and more than 250 practitioners as a result of a new partnership with Jacksonville, Florida-based First Coast Mohs.

First Coast Mohs will continue to be led by Dr. Scott Warren, who founded the practice in 2002 and will invest a portion of his proceeds into AQUA. Additional financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. “First Coast Mohs shares the same vision and values as AQUA, and we’re confident that our partnership will allow us to spend more time focused on patient outcomes and delivering the best care possible,” Dr. Warren said in a press release.

AQUA Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ted Schiff said in the press release that the partnership is further validation of the company’s model. “The AQUA partnership strategy continues to deliver real value for patients and doctors alike, especially in regions where dermatology and skin cancer services are in high demand,” Schiff said.

AQUA CEO Larry Kraska said in the release that growing the company’s presence in Florida and specifically in the Jacksonville area was important. “The need for specialized surgical techniques will become even more important as baby boomers age and demand life-saving skin cancer treatments,” Kraska said.
