Association of Dermatology Administrators and Managers Names Alice Hyman “Practice Manager of the Year”
The Association of Dermatology Administrators and Managers (ADAM) named Alice Hyman of Advanced DermCare in Danbury, CT, the recipient of this year’s Practice Manager of the Year award. She was recognized at the 23rd annual ADAM meeting in San Francisco.
Ms. Hyman has been the practice manager at Advanced DermCare since 2000, helping the practice grow to eight practitioners and a staff of more than 50 members. She oversees the daily operations of the three-clinic practice, including professional and customer service training, as well as vendor relations.
She skillfully championed Advanced DermCare’s implementation of its electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR) system, and now is frequently called upon by the EMR and outsourced billing vendors as a reference to guide other dermatology practices making the EMR transition.
“Progressive and forward thinking, even-tempered and kind, unflappable, tireless, dedicated, inspiring: these are some of the words that come to mind when I think about Alice Hyman,” wrote Grace Federman, MD, in her nomination letter. “Her work ethic is exceptional. None of Advanced DermCare’s growth would have been possible without Alice, who coordinated every detail to avoid loss of revenue during the transitions.”
An active member of ADAM, Ms. Hyman also has nurtured collaborative relationships with other dermatology practices in the region, establishing a spirit of camaraderie and cooperation.
The ADAM Practice Manager of the Year award, made possible in collaboration with CareCredit, recognizes dermatology professionals for their innovative thinking, business acumen and leadership qualities within their practice and their community.
"While we had a number of highly qualified candidates, the high praise for Alice’s numerous achievements with Advanced DermCare clearly distinguished her nomination for the 2nd Annual Practice Manager of the Year award," said Pam Kroussakis, executive director, the Association of Dermatology Administrators and Managers.
As the 2015 award winner, Ms. Hyman receives a cash prize of $1,000, and a scholarship to attend the 2016 ADAM Annual Meeting, courtesy of CareCredit. In addition, her selection will be featured on ADAM’s website and other dermatology media outlets.
