The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted a patent for Colorescience’s LUMIRA™ formulation, a clinically tested, highly effective complex that addresses the appearance of skin discoloration, found in the 3-in-1 treatment product, Even Up® Clinical Pigment Perfector®. 

The now patented (US Patent No. 9,956,163) formulation found in Even Up Clinical Pigment Perfector offers users three-in-one skincare benefits of SPF 50 all mineral protection, immediate color correction benefits, and ingredients that address the pigmentation pathway in the long term.

Recognized as an important part of managing hyperpigmentation by hundreds of dermatologists as well as tens of thousands of patients and consumers, the Even Up Clinical Pigment Perfector was used in a single-center clinical trial to assess efficacy and tolerability of a new multifunctional facial product when used by females with mild-to-moderate facial hyperpigmentation and fine lines due to photo-aging. The 12-week study concluded that the Even Up Clinical Pigment Perfector was shown to be effective and well tolerated for immediate and long-term improvement in the appearance of mild-to-moderate hyperpigmentation and fine lines associated with photo-damage when used over a 12-week period.

In a 12-week clinical trial, 94% of patients who used Even Up twice a day in addition to their regular daily skincare and makeup regimen reported an improvement in the appearance of age spots and pigmentation, while 96% reported improvement in the appearance of skin evenness. In addition, 15% of participants noticed an improvement in their bare skin marked by a significant reduction in the appearance of pigmentation after 12 weeks.
