Cosmetic Surgery Forum Names 2014 Award Winners

Cosmetic Surgery Forum, taking place later this week at the Palazzo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, will recognize Dr. Carl Thornfeldt and Dr. Haines Ely for their respective career achievements and contributions to the field of cosmetic dermatology.

Receiving the Innovators in Dermatology award, Dr. Carl Thornfeldt, in addition to being in private practice for 30 years, founded and developed the Epionce product line. According to Cosmetic Surgery Forum course director Dr. Joel Schlessinger, Dr. Thornfeldt among the most prolific dermatologists and inventors in the country. “With 22 patents, ranging from treatments for rosacea to innovative skincare products, Dr. Thornfeldt is in a class of his own as an inventor/clinician,” says Dr. Schlessinger. “His zest for life and willingness to share embraces the values that we should all have when it comes to training the next and present generation of dermatologists.”

Accepting the Lifetime Contribution to Dermatology award, Dr. Haines Ely has been in practice for nearly 40 years and has been a mentor and a teacher to thousands of dermatologists across the world, notes Dr. Schlessinger. “Haine Ely’s humor, talent and innovative thinking have changed dermatology treatment paradigms immensely, while adding to the collegiality of our specialty,” Dr. Schlessinger says. “He has been a friend to thousands in his leading role on Dermchat/RxDerm list serve as well.”
