The AAD also announced their new officers and board members.

Susan C. Taylor, MD, FAAD is the American Academy of Dermatology’s president-elect.

She will be installed in March 2024 and hold the office of president for one year beginning in March 2025.

Dr. Taylor previously served as AAD Vice President from 2020 – 2021. She is the Bernett Johnson Professor of Dermatology at Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Taylor pursued her undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, earned her medical degree from Harvard University in Boston, completed an internal medicine residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, and completed her dermatology residency at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. In addition to serving as AAD Vice President, she has served on the AAD Board of Directors and has been involved with many AAD committees, councils, and task forces. She was awarded the John Kenney Jr., MD Lifetime Achievement Award by the AAD in 2022.

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Academy also announced their new  officers and board members. These officers and board members will also hold the same position for the American Academy of Dermatology Association.

Kevin D. Cooper, MD, FAAD, will be installed as vice president-elect in March 2024 and hold the office of vice president for one year beginning March 2025. Dr. Cooper earned his medical degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla., and completed his dermatology residency at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Ore., after which he completed stints at the NIH and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. He is currently a professor and the Henri Pell Junod, Jr., Chair of Dermatology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, University Hospital Seidman Cancer Center, and Case Western Reserve University, all of which are located in Cleveland. He has served on the AAD Board of Directors, as well as on a variety of Academy councils, committees, and task forces. He is a former president of the Association of Professors of Dermatology and the Society for Investigative Dermatology.

Board members

M. Laurin Council, MD, MBA, FAAD; Carrie L. Davis; MD, FAAD; Howard W. Rogers, MD, PhD, FAAD; and Alexander S. Gross, MD, FAAD, were elected to the Academy’s Board of Directors. They will each serve a four-year term beginning in March 2024. Anthony Rossi, MD, FAAD, was elected to serve as the Nominating Committee Member Representative, effective immediately.

M. Laurin Council, MD, MBA, FAAD, is the director of dermatologic surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, from which she received her medical degree and an MBA. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American College of Mohs Surgery and formerly served on the Boards of Directors for the American Society for Dermatology Surgery and the Women’s Dermatologic Society. Dr. Council is also involved in several local and state medical and dermatologic societies in St. Louis and Missouri.

Carrie L. Davis, MD, FAAD, is a medical dermatologist in private practice in Bloomington, Indiana. She received her medical degree and completed her dermatology residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. She has been extremely active in advocacy efforts and was named the AADA Advocate of the Year in 2023. Dr. Davis currently serves as Chair of the AADA’s Congressional Policy Committee. She also serves in leadership roles in her state medical association and is a past president of the Indiana Academy of Dermatology.

Howard W. Rogers, MD, PhD, FAAD, is a dermatologist in private practice in Norwich, Conn. He received his medical degree and PhD and completed his dermatology residency at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Rogers has served as Chair of the AADA’s Patient Access and Payer Relations Committee, and previously served as President, Vice President, Secretary Treasurer, and on the Board of Directors for the American College of Mohs Surgery.

Alexander S. Gross, MD, FAAD, is an assistant clinical professor of dermatology and of community and family health at Emory University Medical Center in Atlanta. He completed his undergraduate studies at Emory and received his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Fla. Dr. Gross currently serves as Chair of the Academy’s State Policy Committee, along with involvement in several additional Academy councils, committees, and task forces. He was named the AADA’s Advocate of the Year in 2015.

Anthony Rossi, MD, FAAD, FACMS, is an assistant attending of dermatology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and a professor of dermatology at Weill Cornell Medical College, also in New York City. He received his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, completed his residency at St. Luke’s Roosevelt, Beth Israel Hospital in New York City as Chief Resident, and completed a fellowship in Micrographic Surgery Dermatologic Oncology and in aesthetic dermatology at Sloan Kettering through Weill Cornell. He is active in research and clinical dermatology. Dr. Rossi has served on many different Academy committees, councils, and task forces.
