Dual-Wavelength Laser Caps Gain Clinical Validation for Hair Density Gains
Key Takeaways
KeraFactor says it is using National Hair Loss Awareness Month to spotlight clinically validated peptide-based scalp care and laser therapy devices.
Recent research showed dual-wavelength LED caps increased hair density by an average of 28.5 non-vellus hairs/cm² over 26 weeks.
KeraFactor announced that it will be spotlighting its dermatologist-developed hair health solutions this August in recognition of National Hair Loss Awareness Month, according to a news release from the manufacturer.
The brand’s Scalp Stimulating Shampoo and Conditioner is a drug-free, dermatologist-approved duo is suitable for all hair types and designed for daily in-shower use. The KeraFlex Laser Cap, which specializes in delivering low-level red-light therapy at 650nm, aims to extend the hair growth phase while boosting oxygen-rich blood flow to the follicles and requires just six minutes of daily wear, with most users noting results in 8 to 12 weeks, the manufacturer said.
The KeraFlex Duo advances this approach with an additional 808nm wavelength, penetrating deeper to enhance circulation and follicle rejuvenation. This dual-wavelength approach mirrors professional-grade treatment while remaining accessible for at-home use.
Evidence supporting the effectiveness of red light therapy was strengthened by a recent Lasers in Surgery and Medicine study, in which participants using a dual-wavelength, helmet-style LED cap over 26 weeks achieved an average gain of 28.5 non-vellus hairs/cm²—reflecting a meaningful improvement in visible hair density. Non-vellus hairs, unlike fine vellus hairs, are the thicker, pigmented strands contributing to a fuller appearance.
“All individuals experiencing thinning or shedding deserve access to transparent, effective solutions,” said Craig Ziering, DO, a hair restoration surgeon, in the news release. “During National Hair Loss Awareness Month, we’re committed to empowering people with both education and innovation to address hair health proactively.”
