Emblation has appointed four clinicians and podiatry experts as Medical Affairs Advisors to support clinical education initiatives surrounding its SwiftPro microwave therapy system, which the company said recently received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for treatment of common and plantar warts.
The newly appointed advisors are Ivan Bristow, PhD (Dermatol), MSc (Oxon), FRCPodM; Robert M. Conenello, DPM; Melissa J. Lockwood, DPM; and Tracey C. Vlahovic, DPM.
Advisors to Support SwiftPro Clinical Education
According to Emblation, the advisors will participate in peer-to-peer education and provide clinical and practical perspectives on use of SwiftPro. They will also provide guidance on Swiftscope, a companion application designed to support visualization, treatment documentation, and monitoring of patient progress.
SwiftPro delivers microwave energy for the treatment of warts. Emblation describes its HeatBeat microwave technology as stimulating an immune response to the viral infection associated with warts rather than physically destroying or excising the lesion.
Dr. Bristow is a UK-based podiatrist with expertise in podiatric dermatology and skin conditions affecting the foot and lower limb. He is an honorary professor at Health Sciences University in Dorset, United Kingdom, and maintains additional academic appointments.
Dr. Conenello, founder of Orangetown Podiatry in New York, specializes in sports medicine, lower-extremity biomechanics, and regenerative medicine. He is also a past president of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine.
Dr. Lockwood is founder of Heartland Foot and Ankle Associates in Illinois and serves as chairperson of the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons. Her clinical interests include dermatologic conditions of the foot and noninvasive treatment approaches.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate with these distinguished clinicians,” Ian Stevens, chief executive officer of Emblation, said. “Their expertise and experience will be invaluable as we continue to expand peer-to-peer educational initiatives and support the effective use of SwiftPro.”
