Hilary Baldwin, MD, Named Medical Director of ATRC

02/08/2016

The newly opened Acne Treatment and Research Center (ATRC) in Morristown, NJ, has tapped Hilary Baldwin, MD, to serve as its medical director.

Dr. Baldwin received her BA and MA in biology from Boston University. She became a research assistant at Harvard University before attending Boston University School of Medicine.  She completed a medical internship at Yale New Haven Hospital before becoming a resident and chief resident in dermatology at New York University Medical Center.  Upon graduation and board certification in dermatology, she joined the faculty of the dermatology department at The State University of New York, ultimately becoming Associate Professor and Vice Chair of the department.   She also served as a founding board member and second president of the American Acne and Rosacea Society.

The ATRC takes a personalized and holistic approach to acne treatment, utilizing topical and oral medications, laser and light therapy and physical modalities such as injections and medical facials.  The ATRC offers classes in meditation and other stress reducing techniques, dietary and supplement education and make-up instruction to teach cover-up techniques. Of note, the Center will also work to lessen the use of antibiotics in the treatment of acne.

The ATRC will work with the Acne Cure Alliance, a non-profit organization to find a cure for acne.  “In the partnership with the Acne Cure Alliance, we will look not just at drug therapy, but also at the role that diet, stress, probiotics and supplements play in acne and rosacea.  We are not interested in simply throwing products at a recurring problem,” says Dr. Baldwin, in a news release. “We want to break the cycle and we are dedicated to finding a permanent and effective solution that will allow acne sufferers everywhere to enjoy healthy and clear skin.”
