Patricia Treadwell, MD is new President of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology (SPD). She assumed the role and the society and seated its new 2021-2022 Executive Committee members during the 46th Annual Conference last month.

Dr. Treadwell is joined by Robert Sidbury, MD as President-Elect and Dawn Siegel, MD as Vice President of Workforce and Specialty Advocacy. Marilyn Liang, MD is Immediate Past-President.

In her new role, Dr. Treadwell will work alongside the Executive Committee to develop research opportunities, build career training programs, and increase the number of pediatric dermatologists serving across the country. "I am honored to be elected as President of an organization that continuously advances the quality and standards of pediatric dermatology care," she says in a statement. "We will continue our work to enhance our field, provide outstanding patient care, and develop programs to support our members. I look forward to working closely with this dedicated group."

Dr. Treadwell brings more than 38 years of experience serving pediatric dermatology patients and students. In addition to serving as a medical staff member at Indiana University Hospitals and Wishard Memorial/Eskenzai Hospital, Dr. Treadwell currently serves as Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics, Special Advisor to the Dean, and Chief Diversity Officer at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Treadwell has received numerous accolades for her work in the pediatric dermatology field, including an Indiana Commission of Women Torchbearer Award in 2004, a Breakthrough Woman Award presented by the Coalition of 100 Black Women in 2016, and the Alvin H. Jacobs Award for her pediatric dermatology work in 2015.  

Additional new and returning members of the board include Fred Ghali, MD, Vice President of Finance and Administration; Heather Brandling-Bennett, MD, Vice President of Education and Career Development; Dawn Siegel, MD, Vice President of Workforce and Specialty Advocacy; Anita Haggstrom, MD, Vice President of Marketing and Communications; Amy Jo Nopper, MD, Vice President of Membership and Practice Management; Anna Bruckner, MD, Vice President of Research; and Kent Lindeman, CMP, Executive Director.
