Simulated Patient Encounter Part of Summer AAD Program

August 22, 2015

Simulated patient encounters have come to the American Academy of Dermatology's summer meeting, offering a unique, hands-on educational experience for attendees. Speaking to Seemal Desai, MD for DermTube.com's coverage of the 2015 Summer Meeting of the AAD in New York City, Kanade Shinkai, MD, PhD discussed the pilot program.

According to Dr. Shinkai, the program aimed to help dermatologists improve their clinical interaction skills through simulated encounters with a difficult diagnosis (melanoma), a "challenging" patient, and a complex medical management case. Medical actors played the role of patients and offered feedback to program participants. Watch Dr. Shinkai discuss the program at DermTube.com and see other meeting coverage.
