Skin Cancer Foundation Hosts Young Professionals Party

May 17, 2015

The Skin Cancer Foundation hosted its 2015 Young Professionals Party in New York City on Thursday, May 14 at the Press Lounge rooftop bar at the Ink 48 Hotel. The event united more than 300 young professionals from the beauty and medical industries in the fight against skin cancer. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Skin Cancer Foundation’s youth education program, Sun Smart U.

Event co-chairs April Franzino (Good Housekeeping), Amy E. Rose, MD (Cosmetique Dermatology, Laser & Plastic Surgery, LLP), Courtney Schmidt (L'Oréal) and Alex Wagner (Ole Henriksen) led the 2015 Benefit Committee, comprised of 27 volunteers.

Skin Cancer Foundation Founder and President Perry Robins, MD, and Skin Cancer Foundation Senior Vice President Deborah S. Sarnoff, MD gave brief remarks.

“I’m so happy to have such a young, energetic group of supporters gather to raise awareness and funds for skin cancer,” said Dr. Robins.

“Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, is the leading cause of cancer deaths among young women, ages 25-30. Why? We blame tanning. If there is one message that leaves with you tonight, please let it be that there is no such thing as a safe tan,” said Dr. Sarnoff.

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter supported the event as a Gold sponsor. La Roche-Posay, Evolve MKD and Babyganics were the evening’s Silver sponsors. DJ Ray Jarrell provided the evening’s entertainment.
