La Roche-Posay’s new UV patch monitor and companion app are here.

My UV Patch measures UV exposure in real time. The water- and sweat-resistant patch can be used for up to three days during all outdoor activities. It is approximately one square inch and 50 micrometers thick –and stretches and adheres directly to skin.

The patch is filled with photosensitive dyes that, once exposed to UV rays, will begin to change colors, indicating the various levels of sun exposure.

The companion app (available both on iOS and Android) allows users to track results and provides a personalized report on the UV exposure once the user uploads an image of their patch. The analysis takes into consideration information registered by the patch, skin type, sunscreen use and the UV index in the user’s location. The app also informs users when the level on sun exposure might no longer be safe.
