Neuromodulators and Dermal Fillers: Dr. Gold

Dr. Michael Gold:
Hi, everybody. My name is Dr. Michael Gold, and I'm a dermatologist from Nashville, Tennessee, here on the beautiful island of Maui at Maui Derm 2025. Dr. Martin and his incredible crew have put together an amazing meeting as always. I encourage everybody to come to this in 2026 if you're not here.
I'm speaking at this meeting on what's new in toxins and fillers, mainly talking about the toxin world. We are very fortunate to have great neurotoxins out there, and I will say brand names because it's a lot easier for people to understand. But we're going to talk about all the different toxins that exist, starting with Botox Cosmetic, telling us about how we use it and what the new indications are. So there's now a new indication for platysma indications that's FDA approved, and masseter that's undergoing clinical studies.
We're also going to talk about a new compound called Botulinum toxin E, or BoNT/E, which is a very fast acting toxin, very fast duration, and very lasting about three weeks or four weeks. It's sort of the, "I'm scared of a toxin, I want to try it," type of thing, or, "I have an event that I have to go to," so it's a really neat new thing that hopefully will be coming to market maybe this year.
Dysport is a toxin that works really well, and that has shown some really good efficacy over the years, but Galderma, that makes Dysport, has a couple new products. So in Europe, they have a liquid toxin called Alluzience, and we're getting ready to have a liquid toxin sometime this year called Relfydess. It is a very interesting compound that I've had the privileges studying over the years since its onset, almost 10 years ago now. And it is a toxin that we know it's liquid, so it's pre-mixed, it goes to work very quickly, and the results, at least clinically, it'll say that it can last a long time. So we're going to see what the FDA says and how it comes out, but this is a very exciting toxin.
We have Xeomin. Xeomin has been around now for a long time. It works really well. There are great studies with all of these toxins on high-dose toxins, and Xeomin is one I studied in detail. We have Daxxy, which is a long-lasting toxin, which has shown to be very useful in patients that are looking for a longer result. They have Jeuveau, and Jeuveau has an interesting new trial that they've just come out with. Again, higher dosing, instead of 20 units, 40 units, and really seems to last a lot longer. And now we have a new product that's coming on the market called Letybo, and Letybo is a Korean toxin that has shown really nice efficacy. It's available everywhere outside the US right now, and it is FDA approved, so expect to see this sometime in the next few months coming to us. Again, great efficacy there.
And I'm also going to talk about a new product in development, which is a toxin eraser, if you will. So if somebody has an adverse event from toxins, we have nothing right now, but hopefully we will have something down the pike and I'll talk about that. In addition, on the filler-ish side, I'm going to be talking about a product which is called Renuva. Renuva is an adipose matrix. So, it comes from a company called the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation. MTF is the largest tissue bank in the world, and we have spent the last 10 years doing clinical trials looking at the efficacy and safety of using an adipose-derived matrix to rejuvenate and to enhance people's outcomes, and it has shown great promise, so we are going to talk about that as well.
So Maui Derm is a place I love. Maui Derm is happy place. As I said, Dr. George Martin puts on a great meeting and we're just so all excited to be here and share our experiences with all these great products that are out there, both on the medical and cosmetic side. So again, come to Maui Derm.
