New In My Practice: Cosmeceutical
In each issue, Practical Dermatology© asks top dermatologists about the latest products they are recommending to patients. Here, Michelle Henry, MD, the CEO and founder of Skin & Aesthetic Surgery of Manhattan and the founder of The Henry Research Group, discusses the benefits of Neo Restore Post Treatment Nourishing Sheet Mask.
What is the Neo Restore Post Treatment Nourishing Sheet Mask?
Michelle Henry, MD: The Neo Restore Post Treatment Nourishing Sheet Mask is a post-procedure sheet mask that is composed of biocellulose material. It’s cosmetically elegant and non-permeable so it holds in hydration and moisture. Key actives include peptides, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, and aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder. The key with many skin rejuvenation procedures is the controlled damage that stimulates collagen, and this sheet mask can restore the skin barrier, reduce inflammation and downtime, and amplify the results of the procedure.
How does this stand out from other post-procedure sheet masks on the market?
Dr. Henry: Other occlusives can be messy, and some can make it harder for the skin to breathe. This sheet mask provides occlusion but is still breathable, which prevents the milia that can result from occlusion and sweat underneath a mask. It locks in hydration and kickstarts the process of stimulating collagen and elastin which procedures do as well. It calms the skin and brings down inflammation after a procedure which will reduce the risk of developing hyperpigmentation.
What procedures does this sheet mask complement?
Dr. Henry: It’s great after laser hair removal, fillers, Fraxel, Clear and Brilliant, radiofrequency (RF) microneedling, and many other procedures.
How do you recommend that patients use this sheet mask?
Dr. Henry: I have patients use one sheet mask in the office before they leave, then daily for the first five days after the procedure, and then weekly to maintain the results. Afterward, they can massage any residual serum into their face. It’s not too sticky or greasy. This helps reduce redness immediately following the procedure so they can go on with their day. Patients don’t have to be red and swollen after a procedure, and this mask won’t compromise the results. Patients like some measure of control. They can use this mask to look better and be a part of the process.
