New Skincare Line from Envy Medical

Envy Medical introduced a new range of skincare, formulated to address age-related concerns including hyperpigmentation, dullness, sagging skin, and fine lines.

The Envy Medical range is segmented into four offerings that target byproducts of aging: Daily Skin Health Maintenance, Skin Brightening, Intensive Skin Brightening, and Skin Brightening & Renewal, with products from each intended to work together for optimal results, based on individual skincare goals. The collection uses patented ingredient technologies, including Envy Medical’s exclusive Lumixyl Peptide. While products are formulated to be integrated to a complete skincare routine, they’re also ideal complements to Envy Medical’s signature professional treatment, Dermalinfusion. This 3-in-1 professional exfoliation treatment eliminates dulling surface matter like dead skin cells, removes it from the epidermis, and infuses skin with a specific serum that addresses dehydration, dullness, uneven skin texture and tone, and blemished skin. This patented treatment is recommended for all skin types and can be used on most areas of the body, with few contraindications, resulting in more radiant skin, a stimulation in cellular turnover, plumper skin (by 70%), and more. Carpe Offers OTC SOlution for Excess Sweat

When two college roommates commiserated about their sweaty hands and feet, they decided they would have to find a solution themselves. Hence, they turned their dorm room into a lab, and eventually Carpe lotion was born. The developers note that hyperhidrosis remains under-recognized, and many of those affected try to cope through unsuccessful strategies. To address this frustration, the developers say they seek to bring “prescription level efficacy to OTC access.”

Carpe lotion is designed to manage excess sweat with a smooth formulation that has no greasy feel. According to Carpe co-founder David Spratte, the formulation was developed to reduce sweat without over-drying the skin.

Carpe is formulated to cause no irritation or residue. The product should be applied nightly for optimal effect. It is available on Amazon.com and through Carpelotion.com

Treating Atrophic Striae: Percutaneous Collagen Induction Therapy vs Fractional Nonablative Laser

As atrophic striae are common dermatological conditions that pose a considerable challenge in terms of assessment and treatment. Many therapeutic modalities have already been employed without treatment of striae distensae, a majority related to striae rubra, with few studies that included striae alba alone.

The non-ablative fractionated laser and, more recently, microneedling are two distinct treatments widely used in dermatologist practices.

A randomized clinical trial is being conducted to evaluate the response of microneedle and fractional non-ablative laser Nd-yap 1340 in the treatment of abdominal striae alba.

Twenty patients will be treated at the dermatology outpatient clinic of the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA). Each patient will be treated at five sessions at monthly intervals with laser and microneedle at the same time in the abdomen (divided lengthwise and in equal parts). Each part of the abdomen will be randomized for the treatment of laser or microneedling with the help of the Excel 2013 program. ND-yap 1340-nm laser will be used, and in the other segment of the abdomen, the dermaroller 2.5 mm applied. Photographic records of patients will be performed at pre-treatment and one month after the third and fifth sessions. Questionnaires will be applied to assess the quality of life in dermatology DLQI (Dermatology Life Quality Index). Two independent and blinded evaluators will apply the Global Aesthetic Scale (GAIS) in the evaluation of photographic records. Cutaneous biopsies for histopathological evaluation will be performed with a punch 3mm of each part of the abdomen at pretreatment. Pathologists will evaluate the measurements of the epidermis and the collagen and elastic fibers of the skin.
