"I knew it would be daunting but I had no idea just how difficult it would be." The process to get approved to sell cosmetics in Saudi Arabia is more regulated than the US. It takes approximately one year to get products registered by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA). Then the exporting company needs to go through the process of becoming registered and a certificate of conformity needs to be obtained for every shipment. This requires sending lab samples to Saudi Arabia to test for any potential harmful ingredients and then a physical inspection needs to be completed at the warehouse prior to shipping. "Many people told me it was a waste of time and couldn't be done. I'm so glad Dr. Al-Refae was as determined as I was to complete this deal and I am incredibly thankful to the team at SGS who handled the final parts of the approval process."
